Biography:
“The mysterious guy” they call him. Gel Abril AKA Roy Brizman is a well known and respected DJ in Israel’s night life circuit.

Gel Abril is making a name for himself in all things freaky and in twisted techno and house, although his roots are based in the early 80’s, as he was listening artists such as: “Depeche Mode”, “Anne Clark”, “Kraftwerk”, “Front 242″, to name just a few.

As a result of his intelligent production style, Gel has been chosen by the Israely Shlomi Aber as his official remixer for his latest “Ovum” best-selling release, and for his “Moods” release on the UK based respected label “Renaissance”.

Gel Abril got a unique production style: twisted atmospheres and obscure relentless basslines alongside being sustained by tripped-out emotional melodic lines. Its no wonder why Shlomi signs Gel to his “Be As One” Imprint (DJ Mag).

With such massive labels support, the 30 years old israeli guy is becoming one of the hottest producers of the moment. His “Very Wrong” release on “Be As One” was the breaking point with an essential support by almost every magazines and DJ worldwide, and pushed Gel straight into the best sellers and buzz charts around the world.

The road was paved in the right moment and as a result Gel is becoming one of the most busiest DJ’s of the moment.

Expect big things from one of the main reason why Israel is the hottest place for quality underground music these days.

January 02, 2010 09:13 PM PST

Over the last 3 years, he has become a name synonymous with quality house music.

Already having featured on labels as prominent as TOOLROOM, POSITIVA, DEFECTED, AZULI, MINISTRY OF SOUND, SIZE, BIG LOVE and SUBLIMINAL, his production and remix skills are highly sought after worldwide.

And production is not the only string in his bow... His DJ talents are also a permanent fixture in clubs around the globe, with 2008 seeing him travelling to AMERICA, CANADA, RUSSIA, SOUTH AMERICA, ROMANIA, POLAND, SPAIN, FRANCE, ISREAL, SERBIA, GREECE and many more.

Starting his career at the age of just 13, helping to program backing tracks for his fathers club act, he quickly got a taste for music and life on the road. He formed his own bands at high school and became a multi instrumentalist, locking himself away in his home 4-Track studio for days at a time.

Then as he hit his late teens, amidst fronting a soft rock band, he was lured into the charms of dance music by the legendary VOODOO RAY.

From this point on it was a love affair, and whilst he continued to learn the more conventional side of music at college, with his A levels etc, he was burning the midnight oil in his home studio crafting Drum + Bass and Techno works.

Currently enjoying huge support from the likes of MARK KNIGHT, PETE TONG, AXWELL, DIRTY SOUTH, STEVE ANGELLO, SEBASTIAN INGROSSO + even ARMIN VAN BURREN, Funkagenda is name is a driving force in house music today...
